In Southern California:
Sudden bladder infection hits. Pain, blood, need medical attention.
Larry drives me to the ER (Urgent Care closes early), where I pee in a cup and wait 5 to 8 hours for a doctor to confirm what I already knew and get me a prescription.
Why the long wait? Because the ER is full of a) folks who are trying to get out of work the next day, and b) folks who use the ER as their regular doctor because they have no insurance, generally for a reason which I will not state because I will sound like an insensitive bigot.
Wait 45 minutes at the over-crowded pharmacy for my anti-biotics and pain meds.
Sleep all of the next day to make up for the whole ordeal.
In Idaho:
Sudden bladder infection hits. Pain, blood, need medical attention.
Larry is in California on business (bummer!), but helps me think while I find the number and address of an open Urgent Care Clinic open until 10 pm. I drive there, get registered there since I'm new, pee in a cup and wait 5 minutes for the test strip to develop.
No wait? What? I'm seriously the ONLY patient? Alrighty then!
Wait 15 minutes for a my prescriptions. Head home.
Total time gone: 1 hr. 20 min.

Last summer I was talking to a sales woman at Joann about moving up to Idaho. She said, "Well, I hope you like it, because you probably won't be able to move back if you don't."
Good.

So glad you were able to get in quickly, get treatment and are hopefully feeling much better!
Love the new family pic!
Blessings!
The CVS 15 minute clinic is pretty good here in CT. My Dad did the Walgreens one in Florida and it bit, but CVS' was great for my mom and sister ...so far...me? Well I have an appt. on Friday anyway because of my heart.
that's an awesome comparison. sorry for your pain...
been there, don't miss doing that.
take care now. thanks for sharing. always love your thoughts.
♥
I love the new blog look!
And Instacare is fabulous. So is insurance.
I have never had a bladder infection and I never want one!! I am sorry that you got one but I am happy that you were in and out in no time!!
LOVE the new blog look!!
I fricken love Idaho too. We rock.
I agree with you about California. It's a fun place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there again. Hope you are feeling better.
There are good things about living in smaller places, I can see now. The thing I couldn't believe, however, was that in our town there is one pediatric dentist, and he charged $200 for my three year old's cleaning. (Because he's the only one in town, and he can.) Yikes! But, like you said, thank goodness for insurance.
That is something I was just thinking about a couple of days ago. In Iowa, we could see our regular family doctor same day. Here, if we get sick, we have to go to urgent care because there's no such thing as a same day appointment with any of our docs. It stinks. However, since we are a generally healthy family, and we have good insurance, I will not make the switch back to Burlington, that would be hell on earth for me. Glad you got what you need...there is NOTHING worse than a bladder infection, NOTHING.
Wow that is amazing! You are in the right place. I hope you feel better soon. Those are NOT fun! I lived in
Boise as a little girl and then again in Rexburg for college and you know what? I really like Idaho! I said it- All my years there were happy ones :)
Hmm...maybe we should move to ID. I think the Dr's office wait here is only slightly better than in So. Cal.
I avoid the Doctor at all costs.
I'm really only familiar with northern Idaho (and Bear Lake). (I have a lot of family in Coeur d' Alene) so I'll have to take your word on it. :p Just kidding.
I'm glad you feel better!
Sorry you are sick, but YAY! for no waiting at the doctors!
I like your new look! Sweet!
Word Ver: mormi Yup. that me... mormi all the time please...
♥ Hugs and l♥ts of l♥ve from me to you! Hey e-mail me please. I need your mailing address to send you a little something for Christmas :) ♥ Hugs :) Shauna
Ahhhh, this sounds just like what I went through with my daughter. We sat in an instacare for all of about 10 minutes for a bladder infection she had and we were out lickety-slick! HOpe you're feeling better!
On top of all that, who ever heard of a California potato?
Loved 'seeing' you over at my place today! Did you like the 4 part harmony? I just knew you would! ;o)
Blessings!
Gotta love that. Ah, Idaho! I have to say, we have really loved living here and hope to grow old here. No beach or grandparents here, but most of the other things have been good changes for us. Get well soon!
I will take small town over big city any day. I can't wait until the day we can get out of this HUGE city.
Glad you got help and hope you are feeling better.
I'm glad to hear you are keeping healthy and active, chasing those fishies. Great new photos, too.
There is a ton of snow here... no school for two days before Christmas.
Best wishes, mallory
