What a cute nativity! I don't even have a nativity set (and, of course, I'll be blogging about that in a few more days).

Love the nativity! I really need to get a nice one.

Of course, this isn't exactly a "nice" one. It's cute and will survive the kids messing around with it. They love it.

We had a "nice" nativity 8 years ago. The wisemen, an ox, Joseph, Mary, and the baby Jesus are all that is left. If one of those 3 main pieces doesn't survive then it will be all over. (And I have a friend with a very similar nativity who is just waiting for that to happen, hoping that the casualty isn't Mary so that she can switch our her Mary with ours because our Mary can hold the baby Jesus). I think the kid-friendly nativity is PERFECT for families.

I love nativity sets that the kids can play with. One year Baby Jesus didn't make it back into the
Christmas box, he ended up sleeping in my dollhouse's crib for a whole year.

I feel like I need to make a disclaimer, here, just to be sure. This manger scene was given to us this year by my sweet sil, Kim, who sometimes stalks my blog.

When I said it wasn't "nice," I meant it wasn't fancy, or formal. It is very nice in that it's adorable and sweet and perfect for our family and we love it, especially this year when all of our usual things are packed away. We (I) have really appreciated having this.

I just wanted to say that to be sure, since you do seem to have those little self-deprecating tendencies like I do! Thanks Kim! Love you!

adorable! Does your mom have Grandma's handpainted one? I remember I always adored the Camels.
Merry Christmas!

Lisa--I was going to say no, my mom doesn't have it. But I'm not actually sure. She didn't have much room for anything like that in the last teeny house she was in, so she may have it in storage.

I haven't been to Grandma's for Christmas since I was 4, So I don't really remember the set. Unless it was a set she got in MA? If so, my mom had a set just like it. I can't remember if Grandma got one too.

Do you remember going to a Christmas store called the Village Barn? That's where my mom got hers. Grandma loved that place.
